Don pitches the agency’s Jaguar campaign. Joan makes a deal with Pete Campbell.

Once upon a time, when Brandon Tartikoff ran the place, NBC would have never let a show this excellent get away to basic cable. But Tartikoff is dead, and his network has slummed downward through The Weakest Link, Fear Factor, The Biggest Loser, Deal or No Deal and the catastrophic idea of Leno night after night in primetime. Little wonder I don’t give a damn what else is on TV anymore but the precious 13 weeks Mad Men is on deck.
I think this episode was directed very well, however, I was surprised that Joan would go through with it. She denied all the advances from any guy during her marriage, so I thought she would deny this as well, despite the money. I’d hope that she would deny this offer and tell the partners to go screw themselves. That would be the Joan way. It seems like the writers forced this tragic story on Joan even though it doesn’t really fit her.
I wonder about her like she is real. Will Pete use this to destroy her ? Will she write a book loosely based on her life ? Will she always have to stand alone ? What will Kevin her baby be like .
This is really random, but Jeremy Irons needs to be on the show! I have no idea how they’ll integrate him into the show’s plot, but PLEASE just do it! I can totally picture him as a suave business man who is as much into sexual debauchery as Don Draper.
Joan’s character is not weak, never has been – even after being raped she didn’t cower. She’s always made the hard decisions because women have always had to make the hard decisions, especially in a man’s world. That’s the whole point of her character. She knows she’s beautiful, so she’s using the tools she has to get what she wants because she has no other way. She’s dismantling the masters house with his own tools, within his bounds. This shows set in the 60s, remember that. Joan is badass.
@bob2693. AMC picked up the show until season 6 and there was talk of it being the end, but Weiner told TVLine he’s confident there will be a 7. The ratings are good nationally & internationally, but I haven’t heard anything about negotiations with AMC. Hamm is on board for another season, but I need most of that cast to get my fix; especially Christina H. I’ll keep an eye on Hwood Reporter & Variety.

Don’t forget that Greg still thinks that baby is his too.
haha. I guess that one time. Although she seemed to really regret it
i fucking love Mad Men
I think Herb was trying to stretch hyperbole.
How much do you think an office manager made in 1967?
I am guessing if she took home $200 a week, that was big money back then for an office manager.
Try to raise a kiddo alone on that amount of money. Won’t take you far.
Joan did what she did for a reason. And she drove a hard bargain, too.
She didn’t deny roger
it showed that don doesn’t have much morals but even this crossed the line for him.

I figured she do it though .She is a strong willed woman in an ongoing bad situation. The things moms/dads do for their kids.

HNGHHHH… I’ll have the redhead and two jags please
I dread the day too – lets not think about that and just enjoy the BEST show on TV!
Why did she have to do it?
Joan is so pretty

Best. Pitch. Ever.
“Those are two different stories.”
Oh, Joan…you’re amazing.
Poor Joan but under the circumstances, she was cornered to do the deed.
I wonder if Joan didn’t do what she did, would Don be able to convince Jaguar to pick the agency.
did anyone else notice the green jaguar lane’s wife bought at 0:24?

Are you saying season 6 is the last????
I understand that dealing with reality can be overwhelming for some. At least you can still keep a black president.
