A man accused of murdering a pensioner with his own car allegedly admitted running him over. 76 year old James Simpson was killed as he tried to stop his car being stolen from his Lanarkshire home last November. Today a friend of the accused told the jury that Christopher Grenfell said Mr Simpson was lying on the ground when he drove away. A review published today has revealed that Scottish ambulances attend more serious incidents than before and their response times have been reduced. Health Secretary Nicola Sturgeon has welcomed the news but has warned there’s no room for complacency. In other news, tired of being abused by angry motorists for rising fuel price, petrol station owners across the country are hitting back. They’re supporting a campaign to show drivers just how much of the money paid at the pump is made up of tax, claiming they’re making only pennies for every thirty pounds spent on their forecourts. And in sport, Rangers have signed French defender Sebastian Faure on a 3 year deal, after a successful trial at the club. The 20-year-old won’t feature in the Ramsden’s Cup second round clash with Falkirk tonight as the Ibrox club await international clearance.
