What’s the point of wearing a head sock with short sleeve shirt?
I’ve driven both the old R-Tronic and manual and there’s nothing wrong with it! It’s not brilliant, but it’s fine, you just have to learn to adapt to the car and not expect the car to adapt to your lazy, crappy driving style! Compared to Ferrari’s auto manual in the F430, it’s LEAGUES ahead!
Those two would surely never be compared in real terms? Add a few options to a 12C and you’re looking at £200,000! Even the V10 Plus costs way less than the 12C, but as an everyday proposition, I’d love to be in a position to find out.
For me the R-Tronic ‘box was a little disappointing on track. However, to say – in the video – that the R8 was, ‘too flawed’ because of that gearbox is a bit much. I can imagine it’s a dream with a manual. The S-Tronic has been getting rave reviews though.

If you’re referring to what he said in the airplane clip, you realize he was talking about the terrible paddle shift trans they originally had and not the manual, right?
