Glasgow and West – Mon, 10 Dec, 2012

The National Union of Mineworkers is backing calls for an inquiry into the policing of the miners’ strike in Scotland 28 years ago. Two Labour politicians have asked the Scottish government to conduct an independent review of the convictions of nearly 500 miners who were convicted during the bitter year long dispute. The family of an Edinburgh man who died after being hit by a car at the weekend say they have lost the most amazing husband, father, son and brother. In other news, carers and trade unionists have joined forces to challenge Glasgow city council reforms of day services for people with learning disabilities. And finally in sport, legal action has been raised on behalf of 67 Rangers players over the transfer of contracts from the Ibrox oldco to the newco.
