Hey guys I think raginroadrunner got his ass handed to him more times than he wants to admit losing to a FORD!? TH@S WHY HE’S SO BITTER TOWARDS THEM..
Raginroadrunner!!?? A fairlane dangerous? Wh@s the difference between th@ car and a dart with a hemi in it? HAHA POINT IT IN THE WAY YA WANNA GO HOPE LIKE HELL IT DOWN GO ANY WHARS ELSE LOL!!
Raginroadrunner sounds like u a hate’n on FORDS HEHE
i used to have a 63 fairlane back in the early 80′s. it was sitting under a friends dads shed for years. it had a 260 with a 3 spd. traded it for a road runner.
Ford Thunderbolt. Yea baby !!! Get the women, kids and Chevys off the streets.
Bob Tasca of Tasca ford of Providence built a 406 HP 406 cu.in. 62 fairlane back in 1962. In 1963 he threw a 427 cu.in. engine in a thunderbird, fairlane.etc truely one of the early pioneers and innovators for Ford. The cobra jet series was also his brainchild, powering his street race team that a couple of buddies of mine raced for, a lot of good fun and some really fast cars, raising hell with the chevies and mopars. A great man of vision in the musclecar era.
Ford owners are LOYAL to there Brand…………Chevy guys have NO BRAND LOYALTY,they will put there motors in ANYTHING!!!!!! As far you saying Chevys in Old Fords, you have to be talking about street rods…………And there Mostly Fiberglass Replica Bodies with Custom made Frames and a FORD EMBLEM on them…..So there not really Fords at all…….And the rest of them are called a Bastard Child. The main reason is because Chevy Motors are Cheap, same power they are just Cheaper to build.
I’ll shut you down in my mom’s 02 Prism.
In the Golden Triangle of southeast Texas where I grew up, there were two MoPar dealers and one Ford dealer that were serious about racing. Wickersham Ford in Orange, TX offered an A/FX Mustang with the Hi-Rise 427 wedge built by HolmanMoody and driven by Clester Andrews. The Hemi and the Hi-Rise Ford wedge were very close. The Ford usually got off the line better because of the 4 speed. Dump the clutch at 6K and the auto MoPar had to catch up. The Ford 427 Hi-Rise was awe inspiring.
Chrysler won the SS/A class at the Pomona W/natonals in 64 with the Max Wedge engines…
Yes i have seen a ford 427 shut a chrysler 426 hemi down ive even seen bob gliddens cleveland do it but he is one of the best mechanics to ever turn a wrench and its no suprise its all in how its built more cubes are not always the answer. My friend in kansas city has a falcon with a stock stroke 289 that leaves at 9200 rpm and runs a 9.90 and yes he has sent many chevys and mopars home early and that would shut most 427 and 426 hemis down but the ford 289 was also a very quick and good motor.
Shut what down???…it sure as hell wasn’t a Mopar.
It just wasn’t us..Ford screwed all of the guys in the 60′s running cars with their piece of shit FE engines. I had three cars drag racing then and we all had the same opinion of Ford. Many went to Mopar or a car with the small blocks just to get away from the FE. Ford management / engineering cared little about the consumers and racing overall. GM and Mopar beat the piss out of us. No FE won any top titles to my knowledge during that time. As a result we dumped those cars and moved on.
That was faster than anything else off the showroom floor in 64. Hence they won national championships and set records.
I haven’t been on in awhile, but please tell me you aren’t still on this rant about FE’s and Ford screwing you. Move on. You have no clue what you are talking about! Ford won national championships with the car in 1964! It worked just fine!
The T/bolts were fast,but not that fast…try high 11s off the showroom floor….no T/bolts ran anywhere near 8s/9s over the1/4 in 64…
Yep, one year before the Chrysler Hemi. When that was introduced in NASCAR, Ford started complaining that it wasn’t fair. According to the Chrysler ad at the time, “… and Ford was right.”
Once again, learning about these old T-Bolts et al just fascinates me. Like I said a month or two ago in here..I’m almost 58. My first live drag race was in Tucson in @ 66-67. Saw a match race=Kalitta / Garlits. For some unknown reason, I’ve just had weird connection to those old FE’s…especially those old 406′s. Maybe in a past life I had the 406 w /3 deuces…lol. I’d sure love to have one today. Personally, I don’t think there is a prettier motor than the FE 427 w tri-pwr. Just gorgeous.
I believe it’s because the technology that exists today makes it possible for a small-inch V8 to surpass the 400 plus inch motors of 50 yrs. ago. A verbal challenge statement about which will kick the heck outta what should be based on the supossition that the two are of basically equal status. Or something like that…lol !
Why so???
Cylinder heads was the top of the list. More cars available would be second and third would have been for better transmissions. Next would have been to fit these engines in a larger platform. The 64 farirlane was a dangerous setup.
lol a 1964 ford thunderbolt run in the 8s and 9s in 1964 on motor you’re a retard the 427FE will destroy you’re 4.9 junk motor
@xilyphb you are correct. i am very lucky to get to know about this site. Listen, you would be suprised how cheap you can buy this car through this website. its worth a try here >>> bit.ly/P7kmzB?=urucky
The dry Arizona desert is a great place to keep your car in a good looking condition, as long as you protect your car from the hot sun rays, there is no need to worry about rust… Other than aftermarket rims, this original BMW 7series is a good example of that, after all it is a 25 year old car.
there still a great looking car ,wow 1987 only seemed like yesterday lol
