You sand it to get rid of orange peel. Paint doesn’t come out perfectly smooth. Then once your done sanding buff the hell out of it to make it really smooth and shiny.
The gun isn’t spraying black. He’s spraying a candy(translucent) red it won’t cover a darker color in one pass.
