More than a hundred cars worth around a million pounds have been stolen across Aberdeenshire in the last three months. The shocking figures have been revealed as police admit it’s become a worrying problem. Eighty six people have already been charged – including a twelve year old boy. In other news: A teenager who carried out separate, unprovoked knife attacks on two men in Dundee has been jailed for four years. The High Court in Edinburgh heard that Alec Hutchison stabbed Marc Ritchie in the city’s Malcolm Street last August. Police are investigating a robbery and attempted break-in in Dundee in the early hours of this morning. A quantity of cigarettes and alcohol were stolen from the co-op supermarket in Lawers Drive at around five o’clock. There was also an attempted break-in at the Tesco Express in Dalhousie Road, however no items were taken. The Scottish Wildlife Trust are calling on the Scottish Government to ban the use of a pesticide thought to be responsible for the declining numbers of bees. Scientists in Dundee are currently examining whether neo-nicki-tinoids, commonly used by farmers, are harmful to bees. A business dynasty with historic roots in Fife has emerged as the backer of plans to exploit two of Scotland’s greatest loves – whisky and golf. The Wemyss family are to build an artisan distillery near St Andrews which they hope will attract twenty thousand visitors a year and create a new single malt. A teenager has been charged over an alleged attack that left a man critically ill in hospital. The 18 year old is accused of assault to severe injury following a disturbance in Dundee’s Strathmartine Road on Tuesday. A 38 year old man was found unconscious the next day. In other news: A man’s been injured in a car crash on Dundee’s Kingsway. The two-vehicle collision happened just before half past two this afternoon at the Milton of Craigie roundabout. The casualty has been taken by ambulance to Ninewells Hospital. An investigation into claims of bullying and harassment at a Broughty Ferry veterans’ home will run into next week. The Care Inspectorate said today that officers would need several days to complete their inquiries at Rosendael Veterans’ Residence. Dundee United bosses have ruled out an appeal against the fine imposed for crowd trouble at the club’s Europa League match against Dynamo Moscow. The Tangerines have been fined seventeen thousand Euros by UEFA – that’s around thirteen and a half thousand pounds. The drive to prevent suicides in Tayside has taken to the region’s roads. A poster campaign on buses will encourage people to ‘ask and listen’ as part of Suicide Prevention Week. Every day around two people take their own lives in Scotland and it’s the leading cause of death among young people. Detectives investigating the murder of a father of five in Dundee have released CCTV images of a man seen in the area shortly before his body was found. A young boy remains in a critical condition after being hit by a car in Perth. The seven year old was struck by the vehicle in Strathtay Road at around half past three yesterday afternoon. He suffered serious injuries and was taken to Perth Royal Infirmary. Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward. A woman killed in a motorcycle crash in Perthshire has been identified. 41 year old Joanne Hall from Scone suffered fatal injuries when her bike collided with a car on the Stanley to Kinclaven road on Sunday evening. And in sports: Huddersfield Town’s Paul Dixon’s set for his Scotland debut in Saturday’s World Cup qualifier with Serbia. Dixon and MK Dons defender Gary MacKenzie have been drafted in. Heroin with a street value of £200000 was recovered on the Kinross to Kincardine road yesterday afternoon, during an operation by Fife Constabulary.
