I show you how easy it is to change your transmission fluid on a 1997 Honda Accord. This process applies to Civics as well. A special note. Some 90s Civics have a CVT transmission use Honda CVT fluid on them otherwise use ATF Z1 (now ATF DW1) for a non CVT automatic transmission. Honda fluid part numbers: ATF Z1 Part Number: 08200-9001 (Discontinued) Replaced by: ATF DW1 Part Number 08200-9008 CVT Fluid: 08200-9006 Since the production of this video Honda has discontinued ATF-Z1 and replaced it with ATF-DW1 it’s a drop in replacement for vehicles that used ATF Z1. Every Toyota 22R series engine with the single row timing chain and plastic timing guides (1983~ish – 1995) that I have ever purchased with over 100000 miles on the engine has had a driver’s side guide that was either partially broken or just totally gone. To the untrained ear it sounds a like the valves need adjusting, but in this video I’ll show you how to inspect, troubleshoot, and diagnose a broken driver’s side timing guide. It makes a great bargaining chip when you can show the seller that the timing guide is broken and then inform them that it’s an 0+ repair at a shop. If you can fix it on your own it will only run you about 0 in parts and a Saturday’s worth of time.
