Complications in pregnancy have fallen as a result of the ban on smoking in public places, according to researchers. Experts believe this is linked to a fall in the number of mothers-to-be smoking since the new law came in. Two men have been detained in connection with the deaths of a father and his two children, following a fire at their home in Helensburgh. The world’s biggest spirit producer is investing a billion pounds in the Scotch whisky industry over the next five years. An Inverness man who died after being hit by a taxi in Edinburgh has been named by police. Negotiations that’ll shape the future of Scotland’s fishing industry reach a vital stage in Europe next week. A public inquiry into plans for a controversial waste incinerator in Invergordon will now consider the potential effects of air pollution and human health. And in sports: From now on Scottish clubs will have to conduct investigations into prospective new owners.
