It describes a very styled compact car with a sporty or performance-oriented image. The Pontiac Firebird or Trans Am was a pony automobile built by the Pontiac division of General Motors between 1967 and 2002. It was introduced the same year as its platform-sharing cousin,the Chevrolet Camaro. This also coincided with the releasing of the 1967 Mercury Cougar, which shared its platform with another pony automobile. These autos were powered by assorted V8 engines of different GM divisions.
