We had the honor of spending three days in Chris Burden’s studio filming this sculpture before it was moved to the Los Angeles Country Museum of Art (LACMA) where it is being reinstalled. The installation opens fall 2011. Chris Burden is one of our favorite artists of all time. It’s brilliant, but why censor so many comments as “spam” and “negative response”? Isn’t that what art is all about? The peoples’ reaction to it? One could walk away from this and hate it because it represents our growing society and the moving trend toward Agenda 21 and the abolishment of our population through corrupt means. Two thumbs up on video though, let the amount of spam speak for itself.

Kinetic just means that it’s moving, or motion is involved. You are talking about kinetic energy, which, as you say, it’s not using. But yeah, interesting project…
It’s kinetic as gravity rolls the cars *down* the track, but there’s nothing kinetic about the giant ON / OFF power switch that runs the escalator to bring them back *up*. Calling it kinetic sculpture is a bit misleading… though still a VERY cool piece of art.
