replace your fuel system . is old anyway . rust and cude in the fuel lines and tank . definitley and new ignition system
hey man i had one of those 69 firedbirds with a 428 motor after 3years i trade it for a 76 tans am with the 455 motor but the motor was blow up so now im thinking of finding another 455 if i cant i was going ti put a LS1 or ls 3 motor what do u think i should do
Cool car! Looked for a bit like you were trying to start a radial airplane engine,, with all the smoke and flames.
I liked the motor ok, it ran decent i guess. not as fast as i would have liked but it looked good. I had a turbo 400 behind it with 3.70 rear gears. I had a Holley 800cfm carb with an edlebrock single plane intake.

I put a 1969 428 motor in my 1979 trans am when i was in highschool.. i sold the car but kept the motor.

Man, I’ve been sitting on a 69 428 YK 390hp engine for like 17 years and it has low miles. It was in a drag setup once but never more than test runs. That was a 72 Lemans Sport wiith enduro nose looks like a GTO and it was mean. Dude, this lighter 1st gen bird is gonna go 12s even if it’s all stock once you get your tune on. They are my fav pontiac engine/car setup. I’m jealous lol

and no problem the firebird just caught my so i didnt mind taking a look on your build
I would of but I just put $50 in gas in it the night before… it’s been ran all out now and been thru a few tanks. Smoked quite a bit but cleaned everything pretty good! Definetly runs better with some premium in it though!
