lol you just made yourself sound like a dumbass its 160hp stock as in from the factory. his is modded, 180hp to the ground = 180hp to the wheels, which in this application is around 210hp at the crank…so you were both wrong there.

I can honestly I forced myself to read through 13 pages of comments and the #1 thing that stood out in my head is “you need more than 180hp to beat a vette” I know watching the video he said he was still using the stock trans. How many people here have driven a Miata? I have owned one for going on two years now, it has a very close-ratio box roughly 1000RPM between gears, not to mention in 5th,stock height tires its running at about 4000RPM at 70MPH. I am sure he climbs the gears pretty quick.
Im not sure about the dial, but I would only assume he did not opt for the LS1 either due to being a Purist, or too much tourqe, If you are/were watching this video I am sure you have seen vids of LS1 Miatas, they get vary tail happy. Either way I am sure this car is a monster in AutoX anyway. I am sure he did what he did for a reason, I dont see why he would go through the trouble of doing an un-common swap just to turn out “less powerfull”.

Awesome car man! I sold my Miata a while back, and eventually ended up with an MX-6, so now I’m looking into getting another Roadster and yanking my KL out of it’s home and making a very similar car. I’m assuming you’re using Megasquirt?
should dropped in an ls3 like everyone else doesn’t affect the 50/50 weight distribution too much maybe 55/45

WHAT 180HP FOR ALL THAT WORK!!! WTF WERE YOU THINKING MAN, YOU COULD HAVE BUILT A MUCH BETTER CAR WITH MORE HP AND IT WOULD BE WORTH IT.
HP is irellavent its power 2 weight ratio that maters also front/rear weight distribution and many other factors but that being said i still would have put in an ls1 at 456lbs and easily over 400HP and TQ its hard to think about working this hard for 205 flywheel or 180 rwhp
Did anyone notice the non-functioning tach and speedo? So technically it’s not street-legal.
Umm…. You know, there is a conversion kit for a V8 Miata. & they call it a MONSTER MIATA! Come on, you couldn’t at least do a 20B, or better yet 26B?!

yes i know the miata’s are light but if u really wanna chase them down and not get creamed coming out of the corners then you better take another year or so and turbo it, strip the interior alil bit and take some driving classes

180 is pretty good for a car that size. Pretty sure the lotus elise has 190hp and that car is 45k
