  1. Most ppl don’t care abt the lap time!
It’s about how fun it is to drive the car…

  2. OMG this car is probably the most sexy looking sports car in this price range,,,,, and one of the best driving car too….. I really appreaciate japanese affordable sports cars, they all have very good potential.! RESPECT!

  3. Hi Car and Driver, MotorTrend just copied this episode. see their youtube channel.

  4. You went up in rolling diameter by 3.12%.
Why don’t you explain to all the people that do track work in wider tyres and it works?

  5. The base price of a wrx is 100 more than a BRz, so you buy your 600 tires and ill go with a Cobb access port

  6. true, but the frs is even faster in acceleration with smaller tires like 205wide tires because of the low enginetorque of the frs. depending on the track a bigger width might increase cornerspeed and therefor reduce the laptime. thats why i`d like to see a comparison of 205, 215, 225 wide tires!

  7. Any real driving enthusiast can tell you that mounting a set of high performance summer tires is the single most effective way to enhance the way any car drives.

  8. We need RX-8 R3 vs FR-S, same used price range with a few thousand miles to new frs

  9. second of all, the frs/brz sales are doing great so cut out the bullshit. the cars don’t need hype. if you consider a miata costs $27-30k with a few options and an s2000 was $35k I odn’t see how a $25k FRS is overpriced!

  10. the WRX is already more expensive then adding $600 tires to a brz. awd + 265hp + 100+ft/lbs = still lower than a brz with cheapo tire upgrade.

  11. Im typing this before I watch the video, but I’m willing to bet the car’s handling characteristics have changed alot, you probably can’t do as heavy oversteering without losing control. The car should feel less nimble and less smooth with this type of setup.

  12. ok so they didnt bother changing the shoes on the wrx or 3? guess they have to keep pumping up the POS FRS to get sales up, Over hyped and over priced=FRS

  13. $3000 Miata > $30,000 Miata with 77lb retractable hardtop (that will only entertain you for 40 miles)

If you have $30,000 to spend on a sports-car, buy a Subaru Brz or one of it’s sisters. They’re faster and you won’t get called a fag every where you go.

  15. Why did this post get 5 thumbs up? Because the person claims she’s a girl?

Talks about drag racing an AT Miata…a task that’s as far away from the Miata’s mission as possible. It’s a sports car meant for dissecting apexes with a manual gearbox…man are people are idiots.

  16. I agree miatas are wonderful cars and I am in love with them ( currently saving up for an 06-07) but I do not agree that they are the fastest cars out there nor are they ment to be (Especially in automatic ICK)

  17. oh the acceleration is good? and the brakes too? well ones a first gen, and ones a 3rd……

  18. In 1990, the Miata was introduced as a plain, simple, and affordable roadster, reflecting the great 1960′s European roadsters. In my opinion, why would they add the bulk, hardware, and weight of a modern PRHT? I mean, really, what 1960′s European roadsters had those? And if a modernization or advancement in convenience was desired, what was wrong with a Power Retractable SOFT Top, like convertibles have sported for the past half-a-century? Less bulk, less room taken, and true to MX5 roots.

  19. I appreciate the new functions, but they made it look even more like a chick car. Also, on the newest generation the price of labor and parts is so much higher. Not to mention older Miatas such as my 1990 have a more bullet proof engine and can really take a beating. And to top it all off, you just can’t make the car completely custom inside and out as you can with the first and second generations.

  20. its not that hard to take the top off my 1991 i can take it off with no help and my garage is pretty big and when my carbon Kevlar top comes in itll be that much easiier. keep in mind i work out everyday and bench close to 200 and im a hybrid (black Filipino)

  21. The new MX-5 Miata (2006-) is thought to be generally safer than the 1990′s and 99′s models, due to the addition of side-impact airbags and a more rigid body. In my opinion, Miata’s are a great first car for a driving enthusiast.

  22. The problem with the new Miata is it looks very modern! When first introduced, Miatas were a hit because it reminded people of the 1960 European roadsters. I think the new Miatas have loss that connection and distinctness! The winning formula is what Carrol Shelby did, take a small, lightweight roadster from the 1960s look and give it lots of power! The original Miata gave people that feeling. Today’s Miata not so much, I prefer my 1996 Miata to any of the new ones for this reason…

  23. i just purchased a 1996 mazda miata with the optional hard top. all can laugh if they want but i am averaging 27.5 miles to the gallon.
