My husband Has a 85 Crx Hf with a Turbocharged Si EW4 rated @335Fwhp with a $950 custom 3″ Exhaust. By the way The Si EW4 is Non-Vtec. Its the build that gets you respect Not the Make. I enjoy Both Imports and Domestics.

To start off, I like the video. The cars are nice, but what I don’t understand is, what’s the point of racing from a roll. Anybody with the money can build or have a car built for them and ride down the road and mash the gas pedal. That doesn’t take much skill. Why not go to the track and race. That takes way more skill. And, yes i’ve races at the track before in both a car and a bike. I’m not trying to piss anybody off, but I don’t see the point.

I have a question, on a turbocharged engine the inter coolers job is to cool the air so I didn’t expect to see any real gains on your Skyline; But could you see considerable performance gains in applications on a naturally aspirated engine like my 07 Impreza? Please note that im not really interested in doing this kind of upgrade as I would rather put that cash toward a wrx engine, but I’m just curious.

They do if you want additonal power. You gain additional power by increasing fueling, increasing boost targets and with more aggressive timing. All these things require more airflow – which is the point of an SRI/CAI… but you get non of this without a retune.
I understand this – take a look at 3:07 you can see just behind the filter on the SRI (it’s not a CAI they are testing with) the opening for the MAF sensor. I have to imagine that any SRI, even one using the same diameter tubing as stock is going to allow much more airflow – requiring a tune and a MAF recalibration. Flow mods for any car, particularly turbos are power mods… of course, depending on how restrictive the stock box was to begin with.

Also its not a CAI if your using the same housing or tube for the Mass airflow sensor.. Which will require a tune if you use a larger the tube.. because the sensor detects it at a certain pressure.. While doing something like they did with the Vacuum or corrugated flexible hose proves nothing because your not allowing more air in your actually still restricting it…
Minor modifications like this don’t constitute a re-tune with modern closed loop EFI systems. If so, they couldn’t handle altitude or weather changes without tuning.
your putting high performance parts on a car that has high performance parts already stock if you wanna see it make a difference put it in somethin like a truck I did and gained around 7 r so hp

You can’t mod a car without tuning for it. These guys have to know this… confusing why they just think you can throw any type of mod onto a car without a re-tune.
@NanoTechExtreme nothing you said makes sense in terms of physics. The only way a cold air intake would help a car with a turbo and intercooler Is that it is less restrictive allowing more air in thus making more boost
