For 55k id get the BMW 5 series
We had a corporate AMG-MB, a hell of a fine car…..that is, when you ever get to drive it due to its constant stops at the dealer’s….
Definetly, but, it’s about the residue value…you won’t want a Equus for that matter…
A 5 series? That isn’t even in the same class as the Equus. The Genesis yeah but even the R-Spec model is less expensive and better in many regards than the 5 series.
i dont think people will spend that kind of money on a hyundai there better of buying a second hand bmw 5series its much pleasure to drive and more luxuries
I abandoned Mercedes several years ago because of quality and frequency of repair issues, to say nothing of dealer problems. Switched to LS series Lexuses and will probably stay with them. However, I would certainly look at Hyundai products; but, I’ll wait until substantial frequency of repair and owner satisfaction data are available from Consumers’ Union.
u get what you pay for looks silly.
Nope, Hyundai has really stepped up their quality. Everything in the car is soft vinyl/leather.
I dare you to take a feel of the interior plastics in that thing and then go into a merc or audi and tell me they’re the same quality. I can guarantee you they won’t be.
wanna be S-Class
not at all. front came from genesis and the back from the former version of equus.
Hyundai is trying to do what Toyota did with the Lexus in the 90s. The really don’t have any track record in the luxury car segment. Doesn’t suprise me that they price it lower than competing brands.
That’s about the same price of any window motor.
OMG! The front looks like a Benz and the back looks like a BMW. LOL Cheap rip-off.
exactly. in fact, Hyundai was originally going to make their own luxury brand called “Genesis” when the Genesis came out, but they decided to keep it Hyundai to show what they were made of
The back looks good, excellent! But the front, nah
Hell yah id buy it if I were able to afford it. Hyundai is taking the banner where Honda/Toyota failed in the last 10 years and is running with it. I love all of their car designs! They are everywhere on the road now where the new Hondas etc are meh.
I have news: Nobody (but professional car reviewers) is interested in ‘feeling the road’. People buy BMW and Mercedes for the looks, for the prestige, and for safety…not for “Handling”. The “Driving Thrills” we’re constantly being told about exist solely within the imaginations of people who write for Car Magazines.
And why was there not one word about safety or durability?
the term Equss was used since more than 10 years ago.
ok, 7 series would smoke this car, more luxury, better pedigree, and we dont really need luxury, its a want, if we need luxury equis would be the answer
well said!!!
Nice car.
the only luxury vehicle test is my preference when buying a car. I can tell you that I am on the fence. I drive a 7-series, but it is used, and I just found out it is going to cost me another $450 to fix a failing window motor. It’s out of warranty. I could buy a new 5-series for the same money as Equus but I need the extra space because I do have passengers– kids.
If you follow the reviews of the Equus, the most articulate representation, in Motor Week, suggests that there is an “air of cost containment” in hard plastics and the oddly placed analog clock. I drove one of these around the first of the new year because I was really excited to see one and I have to tell you that was my FIRST impression– the switch gear and the hard plastics never let me forget that it was born from the parts bin. However,it’s compelling and I can overlook that.
Smart people don’t spend money.
