Refurbishing Plastic & Vinyl Panels [S2 Ep. 10-3]

Quick, what is the nastiest project that EVERYBODY has to do eventually? That’s right, replacing old, worn out, nasty carpeting. Today, Stacey rolls the “Banshee” back into the shop and shows you how to bring a very tired interior back to life with some tips and tricks that will help in replacing those old, worn out threads with some new ones. And while we are on the subject of interiors, Stacey also digs into one of the best kept secrets in auto restoration, painting a dash and door panels. If you would like to make your dash and door panels look like new again in just a few hours, for very little money, and not have the paint flake off in a few weeks in big chunks, then this is the show you have to see!

On today’s spooktacular Brief, we’re checking out the Camaro of our childhood dreams, the Google Nexus 10 and why a horror movie marathon could help you burn calories. First up, if you grew up playing with Hot Wheels as a kid, you probably fantasized about owning a Camaro. Well, for all the kids at heart, Hot Wheels and Chevrolet have teamed up to bring you the first Hot Wheels badged Camaro production car. Lead designers Felix Hoist and Jeff Ross originally created a concept car for the 2011 SEMA show in Vegas. After its initial success, the team decided to return with a production Camaro for this year’s SEMA. The new Hot Wheels package includes a ZL1 spoiler and upper grille, a touchscreen infotainment system and dozens of custom Hot Wheels branding touches including flame graphics and a two-tone matte hood finish. So if you’re ready for the 00 price bump that comes with resurrecting a piece of your childhood, the Hot Wheels Camaro will be available next year. Me? I’m gonna stick with the 99 cent versions… usat.ly Next up, with their sights clearly locked on Apple, Google is readying their own line of Christmas gadgets and their crown jewel could be the Nexus 10 tablet. Apple loves to brag about their Retina Display but the Nexus 10 actually boasts a higher resolution and pixel density. What?! Also, the Nexus 10 is aggressively priced starting at 399 for a 16GB version. Google’s tablet also makes use of an A15 processor, 5MP camera, 2GB of RAM and will run version

  1. Rags do work well, yes. That or a microfiber cloth. I’d use either. The most important thing is that they are clean and not abrasive.

  2. I had the same misgivings but I found that if you just gently pry around and ‘feel’ it out you can usually get it to come off. If you use a screwdriver to pry cover it with a sturdy cloth.

  3. You are funny and fun to watch. PLEASE keep making videos!

    This one really helped.

  4. I’ve always found the most difficult and time consuming part is figuring out how to remove interior panels. The clips are always hidden from view and there are so many different types of clips and unclear how to remove them without busting them off in frustration. It seems too some interior panel fasteners are not meant to be removed, so sometimes you can’t tell whether you’re facing a stubborn fastener, or one that simply wasn’t intended to be removed.

  5. Yessir!!! Ive been preachin the good word on properly prepping the plastics, and how cheap it is to do. Thanks for the vid. Nice!!!! Elco Warren

  6. Did you use the Dupli-Color vinyl & fabric paint for the plastice pieces as well? If so, does it work better than Rust-Oleum plastic paint?

  7. What if you want to go from tan to black can you still do the same process as this ?

  8. Adhesion promoter makes paint fish eye , better results make sure to use wax and tar remover then just spray the plastic paint

  9. so what do i do if i broke the clips inside the panels where can i buy them or how do i fix them

  10. @Doc187XL Same here, i have a 89 coupe and i have the worst crap brown interior

  11. im tempted to do this with my 93 240sx but i need to replace my dashboard first

  12. Where can I get those paint cans??? I need them badly!!! Can I have them deliver to Manila Philippines?

  13. How do I make it look gloss? like the blue car in the black. Im thinking use dupli color blue

  14. Maybe you didn’t clean and remove all the armor all chemicals off the plastic or vinyl you painted, try accetone to clean it first, or if you are painting vinyl try sand paper but make sure you get the right one not for wood. another thing i do sometimes is I use a hair dryer before a paint the panel so that paint will stick better lay a coat and heat it again (not to much) that should work!!!

  15. I’m a scrawny fuck so i’ll stay away from horror movies. Besides, most horrors suck. At least the modern ones. The original halloween movie ftw.

  16. I was hoping to see Chloe in a more revealing Halloween costume :( Still love you tho Chloe
