I totally agree that the Saab 9-5 SportCombi would have turned the company around. I wanted one, and ended up with a Saab 9-5 Prem 4 which is a wonderfully unique and timeless product. Let’s hope that the new electric versions of Saab’s will be as compelling.
Unfortunatly, the model never made it to series production (thanks to the morons at GM). Only a few pre-series cars were built, and most of them were scrapped in Gothenburg not long ago. The Saab-museum in Trollhättan saved one car for the posterity, I think. It is really a shame and a scandal that Saab was allowed to die before releasing this model. The 9-5 estate could have been the much-needed turning point for the company.

you need to set your facts straight. 220hp is the max + we had a civic honda with 550000KM and it was still working when we sold it,
This shitty 2.3L, 4 cylinder turbocharged engine can reach almost 500hp. And still will be ok for half a milion kilometers. SAAB engeneers were genius.
Reason why SAAB sucked:
1-Nice technology But shitty engines , a 4 cylinder japanese car would beat their 30 years experience turbo.
2-The shittiest autodealers in all countries , no Good advertisement, Shitty expensive service from their thiefs of dealers

SAAB AB group is still alive and well. They make the aircraft and other things. Sometime in the distance maybe the car part will come back under the original owners.
